Instructions for Installing the CruzNet Internet Package Version 1.1 for Windows 3.1/Win95
Requirements for installation:
Hardware: 386, 486 or higher systems
Software: DOS 3.0 or higher and Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or higher
Disk space usage: About 5 Megabytes
Memory: 4 Megabytes minimum

1. Insert CruzNet Installation Disk 1 of 2 into the a: floppy drive.
2. Start the Windows. In the program manager window click on File and Click on Run (Win95 users, open the MYCOMPUTER folder ) and browse into the a: drive. Click on the setup.exe file (in the a: drive file list). Installation program will proceed. We recommend that you keep the default directory and group names.
3. You will be asked for items such as your User Name, a CruzNet Dial-Up Number and modems COM Port Number. Installation may ask if you want to replace a file that has a newer version. In this case do not allow the replacement (i.e. maintain the file with the newer version). When installation is complete CruzNet window will open and the installed program items will appear. At this point Windows 95 users can use the right mouse button to click on top left corner of the CruzNet window to create a shortcut to the CruzNet folder which will be placed on Desktop Now you can double click on any Icon such as Netscape to connect to Internet. When asked, enter your password.

In case of problems:
The most common source of problem is a wrong COM Port entry in Trumpet Winsock program. This is the COM port where Trumpet accesses your modem. To verify that this is the problem double click on the Trumpet Winsock icon and look at the out put in the Trumpet window. If you see something like MODEM NOT RESPONDING then you probably have selected a wrong COM port in the Trumpet Setup. To fix this problem click on File field in Trumpet. Click on Setup. You should see the Set up window for Trumpet. Then change the Slip Port number to your modem port number. This number is usually between 1 and 4. Try putting an integer between 1 and 4 in the Slip Port field. You have to restart (close and then re-open) the Trumpet Winsock for the changes to take effect. If all fails: Please send an email to webmaster@cruznet.net or call CruzNet at 714-680- 6600 for technical support.
