The club was founded in 1972 and is the only Belgian Ford club officially recognized by Ford Motor Company N.V.(Belgium). It is also recognized as a chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America and of the Model T Club of America.

The club welcomes all pre-1960 Fords, pre-1973 Mustangs, Thunderbirds older than 25 years, all Lincoln and Mercury cars older than 25 years, and special models such as Taunus OSI, under the condition that the car is stock or is in the process of restoration.

The Belgian Mustang and Cougar Club accepts all Ford Mustang and Mercury Cougar enthusiasts, ownership is not necessary. Stock or modified cars welcome as well as all model years. Next to organizing driving tours, shows, etc., the club provides its members with technical advice and publishes a quarterly magazine.
